🔍Beta 4 Overview
Beta 4 – Overview
Duration: March 21 → April 5
This is our fourth beta, and it’s a big one.
A lot has changed since the last test back in September. Systems were reworked, classes were rebuilt, progression was redesigned, and a lot of new content was added.
This version is much closer to what the actual game is supposed to feel like.
So this time, I’m not just looking for “does it work”.
I want to understand:
Does the game feel good to play?
Does progression make sense?
Do you feel stronger over time in a noticeable way?
What I Want You to Focus On
There are a few key things I’m paying attention to in this test:
2nd Job mechanics and identity
Divine Creature hunts and how that loop feels
Progression pacing (mid -> late game especially)
Economy (gear, consumables, crafting)
Quest clarity and general guidance
The core idea is simple:
At the start, things might feel rough. You might struggle a bit.
But after certain milestones, you should clearly feel stronger.
If something that was destroying you before suddenly becomes manageable after a quest or upgrade, that’s working as intended.
If that feeling isn’t there, that’s something I need to fix.
What Changed Since the Last Beta
There’s no short version of this, but here are the important points:
New progression system (closer to what we’ll use on release)
Major class reworks across the board
2nd Jobs are now part of the testing focus
A lot of new mini-bosses and bosses added
Expansion of Divine Creature systems
Also:
“Warrior” is now called Chosen
Job Level 10 is required for Job Change
If you’re not sure where to begin, read this first.
Getting Started
If this is your first time, or if you’re coming back after a while, the early game might feel a bit different from what you’re used to.
You start as one of the Chosen, not a regular adventurer. You’re thrown into a world that’s already broken, and the game doesn’t immediately try to simplify that for you.
Very early on, you’ll notice something important: you don’t gain Job EXP from killing monsters.
Everything revolves around Einherjar Souls.
The first thing the game asks you to do is escape that initial illusion. You collect Souls, offer them to the pillars, and move forward. It’s simple, but it’s meant to show you how progression works from the start.
Once you reach Isgard and head into the Ice Castle, things begin to take shape. You meet Svala, then Friederike, and start understanding what those Souls actually mean. At this point, the game is still guiding you quite a bit, but that won’t last forever.
When you move to Midgard Camp, the tone shifts a little.
You’re given your first real tasks. You start gathering materials, interacting with systems, and most importantly, you get access to your first weapon and basic gear progression. Around here, you’ll probably hit your first real wall, usually during the first proper hunting task.
That’s intentional.
You might feel weak, or like things are taking too long. But once you complete that step, upgrade your gear, and understand what tools you have, things should start to click. If you go back to what was giving you trouble before and it suddenly feels manageable, that’s exactly the experience I’m aiming for.
From there, the game opens up more.
You’ll move through places like Manuk and Splendide, dealing with different objectives, hunting specific monsters, gathering materials, interacting with characters like Mimir, and uncovering pieces of what happened to the world.
This is where the main loop starts repeating:
You enter a new area, it feels difficult, you work through it, get stronger, and then realize you can handle things you couldn’t before.
If that loop doesn’t feel good, that’s something I need to know.
Later on, things become more personal. You go back to the Ice Castle and make your Bloodline choice. That’s not just flavor, it starts shaping how your character feels and how the game reacts to you.
After that, the game pushes you further into places like the Yggdrasil Roots. Difficulty goes up a bit, and your decisions and preparation start to matter more.
Eventually, you’ll reach your first Shrine and your first Divine Creature encounter. This is where a lot of systems come together, Shrines, rituals, and boss encounters tied to progression. It’s also one of the main things I want feedback on in this test.
If you’re following the main quest and handling your Souls properly (especially not dying with too many stored), you should reach Job Level 10 somewhere around Chapter 4 or 5.
That’s your first big breakpoint.
From there, your build starts to actually take shape.
A few things that are worth keeping in mind while you play:
If you’re struggling, that doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. Sometimes it just means you haven’t hit the next progression step yet.
Before assuming something is off, check:
Did you exchange your Souls?
Did you upgrade your gear?
Are you in an area that matches your level?
Also, don’t ignore NPCs. A lot of the guidance in this game is not thrown at you directly, it’s part of the world itself.
And try not to rush through everything.
These early chapters are doing more than just moving you forward. They’re teaching you how the game expects you to play.
If you skip through that, things later on will feel confusing for the wrong reasons.
If something feels off, whether it’s difficulty, pacing, or just confusion, that’s exactly the kind of feedback I’m looking for.
That’s the point of this test.
Accelerated Progression (Optional)
There’s an NPC in Asgard’s Garden called the Field Test Marshal.
He exists only for this beta.
He can:
Give you Battle Manuals and Bubble Gum
Give you a one-time bundle that pushes you to around 2nd Job
Use him if you want to test mid/late systems faster.
Or don’t, if you want the full progression experience.
Both are fine.
Content That’s Not Fully Ready
Some regions are still incomplete:
Comodo
Lutie
Veins
Gray Wolf
Odin Temple
They may have:
Missing drops
Unbalanced encounters
Incomplete content
So if something feels off there, that’s expected.
Map Rule (Don’t Ignore This)
If the map shows:
“Lv. X” → there is actual content there
“-” → not ready yet
If you go into “-” zones, you’re just wasting your time.
Commands Available
For this test, you have access to:
@commands
@charcommands
@help
@exp
@showexp
@showzeny
@time
@instancecd / @instancecooldown
@bag
@mentalize
@return
@autotrade
@memo
@charinfo
Final Note
This beta isn’t about rushing.
It’s about understanding how the game flows. If you feel lost, confused, too weak, too strong, all of that is useful feedback. And if you start struggling in an area, come back later after progressing.
If it feels easier when you return, that means things are going in the right direction.
