🎯 Combat Roles & Stats
In The Nine Worlds, every combat skill falls into one of four core roles: Pressure, Damage, Control, or Support.
This structure helps you understand what each skill is meant to do, and how to build your character’s role in both solo and party play.
🧨 Pressure
“I force you to respond, or crumble slowly.”
Pressure skills are designed to apply persistent threat. They usually involve conditions, spaced cooldowns, or synergy with other skills. They're not always the highest in raw numbers, but they’re the ones that keep enemies on edge.
🔹 What Pressure Skills Do:
Apply status effects or debuffs
Stack conditions (Bleeding, Curse, Poison)
Force movement, retreat, or defensive action
Interact with resource denial (SP drains, healing reduction)
🎯 Examples:
Dark Thirst (Warlock): Deals hybrid damage, self-applies debuffs, and stacks poison/bleed.
Shrill Rose (Performer): Traps the enemy with a delayed AoE and resonance buffs.
Valkyrie’s Crescent: Forces stance interactions and punishes failed kills.
💥 Damage
“I reduce your health. That’s all I need to do.”
Damage skills are burst-oriented, high-scaling, and efficient. They have fewer utility components and focus purely on removing threats fast.
🔹 What Damage Skills Do:
Deal immediate, high output (ATK/MATK scaling)
Have fixed cooldowns, no condition setup required
Can be AoE or single-target finishers
🎯 Examples:
Cut to the Bones (Barbarian): Executes with scaling from Rage counters and HP loss.
Mindquake (Wizard): Sustained magic AoE with cycling elements.
🧊 Control
“You're not playing unless I say you can.”
Control skills manipulate the battlefield through status effects, position denial, and movement restriction.
🔹 What Control Skills Do:
Inflict Freeze, Curse, Silence, Blind, and similar effects
Deny actions like casting, moving, or attacking
Enable combo setups for Pressure or Damage allies
🎯 Examples:
Abyss Touch (Warlock): Curses and silences both target and caster for high-risk suppression.
Unchained Melody (Performer): Applies different statuses based on current song or notes.
Lightning Spears (Wizard): Reveals hidden enemies, deals sustained damage, and inflicts Blind.
💖 Support
“My strength is in helping yours shine.”
Support skills enhance your allies, or yourself, by providing healing, shielding, buffs, and resurrection effects.
🔹 What Support Skills Do:
Heal HP, restore SP, revive, or shield allies
Apply long-lasting buffs like Blessing, Gloria, or defensive wards
Scale based on party size, Soul cost, or gear defense
🎯 Examples:
Celestial Calling (Cleric): Summons twin spirits to grant Expiatio and bonus damage.
Tyr’s Guard (Valkyrie): Applies party shields based on Max HP.
Fury (Barbarian): Temporarily boosts auto-attacks but drains HP per hit.
