πŸ’ Philosophical Shards System

In the world of T9W, your beliefs shape more than just your journey, they shape your soul. Through key decisions in dialogues through main quests, your character will accumulate mysterious items called Philosophical Shards, which reflect the inner truth of their path.

🧭 Overview

Philosophical Shards are items earned through select story interactions. These moments are not always marked or obvious. The world reacts to sincerity, not optimization.

There are three types of Shards:

🟦 Shard of Devotion

  • Earned when you affirm your belief in the gods, tradition, or restoration.

  • Philosophy: Loyalty, faith, sacred duty.

  • Flavor: β€œYou believe they can still return. That they should.”

πŸŸ₯ Shard of Doubt

  • Earned when you reject divine authority or question the gods' place in the world.

  • Philosophy: Independence, defiance, liberation.

  • Flavor: β€œThey abandoned us, why should we bring them back?”

🟨 Shard of Inquiry

  • Earned when you choose uncertainty, curiosity, or observation.

  • Philosophy: Open-ended thinking, neutrality, potential.

  • Flavor: β€œI don’t know yet. But I want to understand.”

πŸ›• The Shrine of Reflection

Location: Asgard Garden

This ancient shrine responds only to the Shards you carry. Through it, your path is revealed and reflected.

🎭 Costume Manifestations

By offering shards at the Shrine, you may rent or permanently acquire a costume that visually expresses your chosen path:

πŸ“œ Additional Notes

  • Shards are character-bound, but can be stored.

  • Only the shards in your inventory affect shrine behavior or dialogue reactions.

  • The system is entirely cosmetic and narrative, no gameplay advantage is tied to any path.

  • You may mix shards or specialize in one. Some NPCs and shrines may respond differently based on your leaning.
